Research overview
Thymosin Alpha-1 is a 28-residue N-acetylated peptide, Ac-SDAAVDTSSEITTKDLKEKKEVVEEAEN, first described in thymic extracts and also written as Tα1. It is studied for T-cell signalling and for innate and adaptive immune regulation in cell and preclinical models. Supplied at 5mg as a lyophilised powder for in-vitro laboratory research only.
Thymosin alpha-1 is processed from a larger precursor protein, prothymosin alpha. In the literature it is reported to act on antigen-presenting cells, with signalling through Toll-like receptors such as TLR2 and TLR9 and onward through NF-kappaB and MAPK pathways. Reported outcomes in cell models include dendritic cell maturation, changes in cytokine release and effects on T-cell differentiation markers. Findings differ between systems, and the receptor interactions are still being characterised.
Researchers use it in dendritic cell and T-cell culture assays, flow cytometry panels for activation markers, cytokine multiplex assays and reporter cell lines for Toll-like receptor signalling. Its N-terminal acetylation also makes it a useful model in peptide mass spectrometry work. It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 5mg vial.

Questions
How does thymosin alpha-1 differ from thymalin?
Thymosin alpha-1 is a defined 28-residue N-acetylated peptide with a known sequence. Thymalin is described as a thymus-derived peptide preparation, so the two differ in composition even though both are studied in thymic peptide research.
How should thymosin alpha-1 be stored?
It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 5mg vial. Keep it cold, dry and away from light, and reconstitute with a suitable laboratory diluent only when the material is needed.
Is thymosin alpha-1 a medicine?
No. The material sold here is supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research. It is not a medicine, food or supplement, and it is not for human or animal use. Buyers must be aged 18 or over.
