Research overview
TB-500 is a short acetylated peptide, Ac-LKKTETQ, corresponding to residues 17 to 23 of thymosin beta-4, the region that contains its actin-binding motif. It is used in actin dynamics, cell migration and tissue-repair signalling work. Supplied at 5mg as a lyophilised powder for in-vitro laboratory research only.
Thymosin beta-4 is a small intracellular protein that binds monomeric actin and helps regulate the pool available for filament assembly. The LKKTET region is described as the actin-binding site, and the shorter fragment is used to ask which activities of the full protein depend on that region. Reports in cell and preclinical models describe effects on cell migration, endothelial behaviour and inflammatory signalling, although how much of this is reproduced by the fragment alone has been questioned.
Typical work includes actin polymerisation assays with purified proteins, scratch-wound and transwell migration assays in endothelial cells and keratinocytes, and fluorescence imaging of the actin cytoskeleton. The name TB-500 is used elsewhere for more than one thymosin beta-4 related material, so the sequence given on this page should be checked against other papers. It is supplied as a lyophilised powder.

Questions
How does TB-500 differ from thymosin beta-4?
Thymosin beta-4 is the full-length protein. TB-500, as listed here, is a short N-acetylated fragment covering residues 17 to 23, the region that contains the actin-binding motif.
What form is TB-500 supplied in?
It is a lyophilised powder in a 5mg vial. Keep it cold, dry and away from light, and reconstitute with a suitable laboratory diluent only when the material is needed.
Is TB-500 a medicine?
No. It is supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research. It is not a medicine, food or supplement, and it is not for human or animal use. Buyers must be aged 18 or over.
