Research overview
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide, Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro (MEHFPGP), built from the ACTH(4-7) fragment with a Pro-Gly-Pro tail. It is studied in neurotrophin signalling, neuronal plasticity and stress-related pathways in cell and preclinical models, and it is a common reference for ACTH-fragment peptide design. Supplied at 5mg as a lyophilised powder for in-vitro laboratory research only.
The ACTH(4-7) fragment contains the sequence Met-Glu-His-Phe and is described as lacking the hormonal activity of full-length ACTH. The Pro-Gly-Pro extension is intended to slow peptidase breakdown. In rodent studies and neural cell cultures, Semax has been reported to change expression of BDNF and its receptor TrkB, and of other genes involved in neuronal plasticity and stress responses. Much of this work was published by one research group, and the receptor mechanism is not settled.
Researchers use it in neuronal and glial cultures for BDNF and TrkB expression assays, in neurite outgrowth and survival assays under stress, and in gene expression profiling by qPCR and transcriptomics. Comparison with other ACTH-derived peptides and with Selank is common. It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 5mg vial.

Questions
What is the difference between Semax and ACTH?
ACTH is a large pituitary hormone. Semax is built from just four residues of it, ACTH(4-7), plus a Pro-Gly-Pro tail, and it is described as lacking the hormonal activity of the full molecule.
How is Semax supplied and stored?
It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 5mg vial. Keep it cold, dry and away from light, and reconstitute with a suitable laboratory diluent only when the material is needed.
Is Semax a medicine?
No. The material sold here is supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research. It is not a medicine, food or supplement, and it is not for human or animal use. Buyers must be aged 18 or over.
