Research overview
P-21 (PO21), also written P021, is a small synthetic peptide studied for neurogenesis and for the proliferation of neural progenitor cells, particularly in hippocampal models. It is described in different sources as ACTH-derived and as a mimetic of ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF). Supplied at 5mg as a lyophilised powder for in-vitro laboratory research only.
CNTF is a neurotrophic cytokine that supports neuron survival and neural progenitor activity. Short peptides modelled on its active region have been designed to keep neurotrophic signalling while being easier to handle than the full protein. Reported work in rodent hippocampal models and neural progenitor cultures describes changes in BDNF expression and in markers of progenitor proliferation. Because sources disagree on the origin and structure of P-21 (PO21), the analytical data supplied with each batch should be relied on rather than the name alone.
Laboratory uses include neurosphere and progenitor proliferation assays, immunostaining for neuronal differentiation markers, BDNF and signalling pathway analysis by qPCR and western blot, and primary hippocampal neuron cultures. Stability of the small peptide in culture media is usually measured alongside. The compound is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 5mg vial.

Questions
Is P-21 (PO21) derived from ACTH or from CNTF?
Both descriptions appear in the literature and in supplier material. The synonyms listed here call it a CNTF mimetic peptide, while other sources describe an ACTH-derived origin. Check the analytical data supplied with the batch for identity.
How is P-21 (PO21) supplied?
It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 5mg vial. Keep it cold, dry and away from light, and reconstitute with a suitable laboratory diluent only when the material is needed.
Is P-21 (PO21) a medicine?
No. It is supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research. It is not a medicine, food or supplement, and it is not for human or animal use. Buyers must be aged 18 or over.
