Research overview
DSIP, or delta sleep-inducing peptide, is a naturally occurring nonapeptide with the sequence WAGGDASGE, first described in the 1970s. It is studied as a neuropeptide in sleep, stress and neuroendocrine signalling models, in neuronal cultures as well as in preclinical work. Supplied at 5mg as a lyophilised powder for in-vitro laboratory research only.
DSIP was named for its reported ability to promote delta-wave sleep in rabbits. Decades of work have not identified a dedicated DSIP receptor or gene product, and the peptide's endogenous role remains uncertain. Reported actions in the literature include modulation of the stress axis, effects on neurotransmitter systems such as GABA and glutamate, and interaction with NMDA-type receptors in neuronal preparations. The peptide is also known to be broken down quickly by peptidases, which complicates interpretation.
Researchers use it in electrophysiology and calcium imaging with neuronal cultures and brain slices, in neuroendocrine assays of stress-hormone release from pituitary or hypothalamic preparations, and in peptide degradation studies by HPLC. Its short sequence also makes it a convenient model for peptidase specificity work. It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 5mg vial.

Each lot of DSIP is released with a certificate recording identity and purity. Enter the lot number printed on your vial on the lab testing page to view it.
Questions
Has a receptor for DSIP been identified?
Not definitively. The literature reports interactions with several systems, including GABA and glutamate signalling, but no dedicated DSIP receptor has been established. That uncertainty is one reason the peptide is still studied.
How is DSIP supplied and stored?
It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 5mg vial. The peptide is short and sensitive to peptidases, so keep it cold and dry and reconstitute only when it is needed.
Is DSIP a medicine?
No. It is supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research. It is not a medicine, food or supplement, and it is not for human or animal use. Buyers must be aged 18 or over.
