Research overview

Pinealon is a pineal-associated tripeptide, Glu-Asp-Arg (EDR), also called the Pineal Tripeptide. It is studied for neuroprotective and circadian-linked signalling in cells, and belongs to a family of short regulatory peptides described mainly by one Russian research group. Supplied at 10mg as a lyophilised powder for in-vitro laboratory research only.

Pinealon is described in the literature as a short peptide bioregulator, one of a group of di-, tri- and tetrapeptides proposed to interact with DNA and chromatin and to alter gene expression. In cultured neurons and cerebellar cells it has been reported to lower reactive oxygen species and to protect against stress-induced cell death. Most of the published work comes from one research group, and independent replication is limited, so findings should be read with that caveat.

Laboratory uses include primary neuron and neural cell line cultures exposed to oxidative or excitotoxic stress, reactive oxygen species and cell viability assays, gene expression profiling by qPCR, and DNA-peptide binding studies. Its three-residue sequence also makes it a small model for peptide uptake work. It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 10mg vial.

Questions

What is a peptide bioregulator?

The term is used in the literature for a family of very short peptides, mostly two to four residues, proposed to influence gene expression in particular tissues. Pinealon is described as the pineal-associated member of that group.

How is Pinealon supplied?

It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 10mg vial. Keep it cold, dry and away from light, and reconstitute with a suitable laboratory diluent only when the material is needed.

Is Pinealon a medicine?

No. It is supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research. It is not a medicine, food or supplement, and it is not for human or animal use. Buyers must be aged 18 or over.
