Research overview
PE-22-28 is a seven-residue peptide, Gly-Val-Ser-Trp-Gly-Leu-Arg (GVSWGLR), taken from the sortilin propeptide and listed as a spadin-derived peptide. It is described as blocking the TREK-1 potassium channel and is used in ion-channel electrophysiology, including patch-clamp work on transfected cells and cultured neurons. Supplied at 5mg as a lyophilised powder for in-vitro laboratory research only.
TREK-1 is a two-pore-domain potassium channel that helps set resting membrane potential and responds to stretch, temperature, lipids and pH. The sortilin propeptide fragment spadin was reported to block TREK-1, and PE-22-28 is a shorter derivative described as keeping that blocking activity while being easier to make. In rodent neuron and cell-line preparations, TREK-1 blockade is reported to alter neuronal firing, which has made the channel a topic in neuropharmacology research.
Typical work uses patch-clamp recordings in HEK293 or COS-7 cells expressing TREK-1, with the peptide applied to the bath, and in cultured cortical or raphe neurons. Selectivity checks against other potassium channels, such as TREK-2 and TRAAK, are standard. Binding and stability studies by HPLC also feature. It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 5mg vial.

Questions
How is PE-22-28 related to spadin?
Spadin is a longer peptide released from the sortilin propeptide. PE-22-28 is a seven-residue derivative, GVSWGLR, described as keeping the TREK-1 blocking activity in a shorter form.
How is PE-22-28 supplied and stored?
It is a lyophilised powder in a 5mg vial. Keep it cold, dry and away from light, and reconstitute with a suitable laboratory diluent or recording buffer only when the material is needed.
Is PE-22-28 a medicine?
No. It is supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research. It is not a medicine, food or supplement, and it is not for human or animal use. Buyers must be aged 18 or over.
