Research overview
LL37 is the 37-residue human cathelicidin host-defence peptide, with the sequence LLGDFFRKSKEKIGKEFKRIVQRIKDFLRNLVPRTES. It is studied in innate immunity, in antimicrobial membrane action and in wound biology, using bacterial, epithelial and immune cell models alongside biophysical assays. Supplied at 5mg as a lyophilised powder for in-vitro laboratory research only.
LL37 is released by proteolytic cleavage of the C-terminal domain of the precursor CAP-18. It forms an amphipathic alpha-helix in membrane environments, and the positive charge of that helix is thought to drive binding to negatively charged bacterial membranes. Beyond direct antimicrobial action it has been reported to signal through receptors such as FPR2 and P2X7 on immune and epithelial cells, to influence cytokine release, and to modulate cell migration and angiogenesis in vitro.
Laboratory use includes minimum inhibitory concentration assays against bacterial strains, membrane permeabilisation and liposome leakage assays, biofilm studies, and cell-based assays of chemotaxis and cytokine release in neutrophils, macrophages and keratinocytes. Biophysical groups study its helix formation by circular dichroism and its binding to model membranes. It is supplied as a lyophilised powder.

Questions
What is LL37?
LL37 is the only cathelicidin peptide found in humans. It is the 37-residue C-terminal fragment of the precursor CAP-18, hence the name, and it forms part of the innate immune system.
How is LL37 supplied?
It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 5mg vial. The peptide is highly charged and can stick to some plastics, so many labs use low-binding tubes after reconstitution.
Is LL37 a medicine?
No. It is supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research. It is not a medicine, food or supplement, and it is not for human or animal use. Buyers must be aged 18 or over.
