Research overview

Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide secretagogue, Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys with a C-terminal amide, also listed as NNC 26-0161. It is studied in vitro and in preclinical models for selective binding and signalling at the ghrelin receptor GHS-R1a. Supplied at 5mg as a lyophilised powder for in-vitro laboratory research only.

Ipamorelin is described in the literature as a selective agonist at GHS-R1a. In the original characterisation work it was reported to stimulate growth-hormone release in pituitary cell and animal models without the rise in ACTH or cortisol seen with some earlier secretagogues such as GHRP-6 and hexarelin. The peptide contains the non-proteinogenic residue Aib, which is thought to improve resistance to proteolysis.

Researchers use it as a selective reference ligand in receptor-binding and calcium assays, in hormone-release assays with primary pituitary cells, and in comparison studies against GHRP-2, GHRP-6 and hexarelin. Mass spectrometry work on Aib-containing peptides is another application, since the Aib residue changes fragmentation patterns. It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 5mg vial.

Research areas

Storage and handling

Store the lyophilised powder in a freezer, protected from moisture and light, and let the vial reach room temperature before opening. Reconstitute with an appropriate laboratory diluent and keep reconstituted material cold.

Each lot of Ipamorelin is released with a certificate recording identity and purity. Enter the lot number printed on your vial on the lab testing page to view it.

Questions

What makes ipamorelin different from GHRP-6 and GHRP-2?

It is a shorter, five-residue peptide containing Aib and is described as more selective for GHS-R1a. Earlier hexapeptides such as GHRP-6 were reported to affect additional hormone axes in some models.

How is ipamorelin supplied?

It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 5mg vial. Keep it cold, dry and away from light, and reconstitute with a suitable laboratory diluent only when the material is needed.

Is ipamorelin a medicine?

No. It is supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research. It is not a medicine, food or supplement, and it is not for human or animal use. Buyers must be aged 18 or over.
