IGF1-LR3 is a recombinant analogue of insulin-like growth factor 1, an 83-amino-acid protein known as Long Arg3 IGF-1, with three intramolecular disulfide bonds. It is studied in vitro for IGF-1 receptor activation and growth-factor signalling. Supplied at 1mg as a lyophilised powder for in-vitro laboratory research only.
IGF1-LR3 binds the IGF-1 receptor, a receptor tyrosine kinase, and activates the PI3K-Akt and MAPK-ERK pathways. The Long-R3 modifications are described in the literature as sharply reducing binding to IGF-binding proteins, which normally limit how much free IGF-1 is available in culture. As a result it is reported to be more potent than native IGF-1 in many cell assays, and it stays active in media where binding proteins are present.
It is widely used as an additive in serum-free cell culture media, where it supports proliferation of cell lines used in bioproduction. Other uses include phosphorylation assays for Akt and ERK, myoblast differentiation work, and comparison with native IGF-1 and insulin. The protein is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 1mg vial.
Store the lyophilised protein cold, dry and protected from light, and let the vial reach room temperature before opening. Reconstitute with an appropriate laboratory diluent, aliquot, and avoid repeated freeze and thaw.
Each lot of IGF1-LR3 is released with a certificate recording identity and purity. Enter the lot number printed on your vial on the lab testing page to view it.
It is an engineered long form with an arginine at position 3. These changes are reported to reduce binding to IGF-binding proteins, which leaves more free ligand available to the IGF-1 receptor in culture.
It is a lyophilised powder in a 1mg vial. Keep it cold, dry and away from light. As with most proteins, aliquot after reconstitution to limit repeated freezing and thawing.
No. It is supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research. It is not a medicine, food or supplement, and it is not for human or animal use. Buyers must be aged 18 or over.
