Research overview
GHK-CU is a copper(II) complex of the tripeptide Gly-His-Lys (GHK), also listed as Copper Tripeptide-1. It is studied for copper transport, extracellular-matrix regulation and copper-dependent cell signalling in cultured fibroblasts and other cells, and in spectroscopic work on the complex. Supplied at 50mg as a lyophilised powder for in-vitro laboratory research only.
GHK was first reported as a copper-binding factor in human plasma, and it forms a stable complex with copper(II) through the N-terminal amine, a backbone nitrogen and the histidine side chain. In the literature GHK-CU is described as a copper carrier that can deliver the metal to cells and influence copper-dependent enzymes such as lysyl oxidase. Fibroblast culture studies report changes in collagen, glycosaminoglycan and matrix metalloproteinase expression, and gene-expression database analyses have suggested broad effects on gene sets linked to tissue remodelling.
Researchers use it in fibroblast and keratinocyte cultures that measure collagen, glycosaminoglycan and matrix metalloproteinase expression, in scratch-wound migration assays, in copper-uptake studies and in spectroscopic work on the complex itself (UV-visible, circular dichroism and EPR). Comparisons with the copper-free peptide and with AHK-Cu help separate the role of copper from that of the sequence.

Storage and handling
Store the lyophilised powder cold, dry and protected from light, with the container tightly closed. Avoid strong chelating agents when preparing solutions, since they can strip the copper from the peptide.
Certificates of analysis
Each lot of GHK-CU is released with a certificate recording identity and purity. Enter the lot number printed on your vial on the lab testing page to view it.
Questions
What does the Cu in GHK-CU stand for?
Cu is the chemical symbol for copper. GHK-CU is the tripeptide Gly-His-Lys bound to a copper(II) ion. The copper-free peptide, GHK, is studied alongside it to separate the role of the metal.
How is GHK-CU supplied and stored?
It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 50mg container. Keep it cold, dry and away from light, and prepare solutions only when the material is needed.
Is GHK-CU a medicine?
No. It is supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research. It is not a medicine, food, supplement or cosmetic ingredient, and it is not for human or animal use. Buyers must be aged 18 or over.
