Research overview

N-Acetyl Epitalon is an acetylated variant of the epitalon tetrapeptide, Ac-Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (Ac-AEDG), also listed as Ac-Epitalon. It is used in telomerase, cell-senescence and gene-regulation studies in cultured cells, usually alongside the unmodified peptide as a comparator. Supplied at 10mg as a lyophilised powder for in-vitro laboratory research only.

Acetylation of the N-terminus removes the free amino group, a change commonly used to make short peptides more resistant to aminopeptidases and to alter their charge. The parent tetrapeptide has been reported to influence telomerase activity, chromatin structure and gene expression in cultured cells, mostly in work from one research group. Whether the acetylated form behaves the same way has not been widely tested, so comparison with the unmodified peptide is part of the research question.

Laboratory designs run the acetylated and unmodified peptides side by side in fibroblast or epithelial cell lines, measuring telomerase activity by TRAP assay, telomere length, senescence markers and qPCR of regulated genes. Stability in culture media is followed by HPLC and mass spectrometry. It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 10mg vial.

Each lot of N-Acetyl Epitalon is released with a certificate recording identity and purity. Enter the lot number printed on your vial on the lab testing page to view it.

Questions

What does N-acetylation change compared with Epithalon?

It adds an acetyl group to the N-terminus of Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly. That removes the free amino group, a change commonly used to increase resistance to aminopeptidases in assay media.

How is it supplied and stored?

It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 10mg vial. Keep it cold, dry and away from light, and reconstitute with a suitable laboratory diluent only when the material is needed.

Is N-Acetyl Epitalon a medicine?

No. It is supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research. It is not a medicine, food or supplement, and it is not for human or animal use. Buyers must be aged 18 or over.
