Research overview
Epithalon, also spelled Epitalon, is a four-residue peptide, Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG), linked to pineal-gland extracts and described as an epithalamin-derived tetrapeptide. It is studied for chromatin organisation, gene expression and telomere-related processes in cultured cells. Supplied at 10mg as a lyophilised powder for in-vitro laboratory research only.
Epithalamin is an extract of the pineal gland, and Epithalon was designed as a defined synthetic tetrapeptide to reproduce part of its activity. In the literature the peptide has been reported to induce telomerase activity and telomere elongation in cultured human cells, and to influence chromatin structure and gene expression. These claims come largely from one research group, and the extent to which the telomerase effects generalise across cell types is debated, so the data should be read with caution.
Typical laboratory work uses fibroblast and epithelial cell lines, with telomerase activity measured by the TRAP assay, telomere length by qPCR or flow-FISH, and gene expression by qPCR. Studies of chromatin binding use labelled peptides and DNA interaction assays. It is also compared with its acetylated form, N-Acetyl Epitalon. It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 10mg vial.

Each lot of Epithalon is released with a certificate recording identity and purity. Enter the lot number printed on your vial on the lab testing page to view it.
Questions
How does Epithalon differ from N-Acetyl Epitalon?
Both share the Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly sequence. N-Acetyl Epitalon carries an acetyl group on the N-terminus, a change intended to alter stability and handling in assay media.
How is Epithalon supplied and stored?
It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 10mg vial. Keep it cold, dry and away from light, and reconstitute with a suitable laboratory diluent only when the material is needed.
Is Epithalon a medicine?
No. It is supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research. It is not a medicine, food or supplement, and it is not for human or animal use. Buyers must be aged 18 or over.
