Research overview
5-Amino-1MQ is a small quinolinium-based molecule, 5-amino-1-methylquinolinium, rather than a peptide. It is a reported inhibitor of the enzyme nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT) and is used to study methylation, NAD+ salvage and cellular energy metabolism. Supplied at 10mg as a crystalline powder for in-vitro laboratory research only.
NNMT transfers a methyl group from S-adenosylmethionine to nicotinamide, producing 1-methylnicotinamide and linking methyl-donor supply to the NAD+ salvage pathway. The enzyme is expressed at high levels in adipose tissue and in some tumour-derived cell lines. 5-Amino-1MQ is described in the literature as a membrane-permeable NNMT inhibitor, and in cultured adipocytes NNMT inhibition has been reported to change methyl-donor and NAD+ metabolite levels and lipid-handling gene expression.
Laboratory work includes NNMT enzyme inhibition assays with recombinant protein, LC-MS measurement of 1-methylnicotinamide, S-adenosylmethionine and NAD+ in cell cultures exposed to the compound, adipocyte differentiation assays, and selectivity comparisons against related methyltransferases, to check that inhibition is specific to NNMT. It is supplied as a crystalline powder in a 10mg container.

Questions
Is 5-Amino-1MQ a peptide?
No. It is a small organic cation, not a chain of amino acids. It is studied as a probe of the NNMT enzyme and is supplied as a crystalline powder.
How is it supplied and stored?
It is a crystalline powder in a 10mg container. Keep it cold, dry and away from light, and prepare solutions in a solvent suited to the assay only when needed.
Is 5-Amino-1MQ a medicine?
No. It is supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research. It is not a medicine, food or supplement, and it is not for human or animal use. Buyers must be aged 18 or over.
