Research overview
Mixing Water 5 Pack (5ml) is preservative-free sterile water, also listed as Purified Water, supplied as a 5ml × 5 pack. It is a laboratory diluent used to dissolve and dilute lyophilised materials and to prepare solutions for in-vitro work. It is a laboratory reagent and not a research peptide. Supplied for in-vitro laboratory use only.
Water is the most common solvent for lyophilised peptides and proteins, and sterile, preservative-free water is chosen where an added preservative could interfere with an assay. It has no buffering capacity or ionic content of its own, so the pH of a reconstituted solution depends on the dissolved material. Many laboratories reconstitute in water first and then dilute into a buffer or culture medium suited to the experiment, which can help avoid salt-induced aggregation during the first dissolution step.
In the laboratory it is used for reconstituting lyophilised standards, preparing stock solutions and serial dilutions, and as a blank or negative control in assays. Because it contains no preservative, reconstituted solutions are normally kept cold and used promptly, and sterile technique limits contamination. It is supplied as a sterile liquid in a 5ml × 5 pack.

Storage and handling
Laboratory role: a preservative-free diluent for dissolving and diluting lyophilised materials. Store unopened vials at room temperature, away from light and heat, and use a fresh vial for each preparation once one is opened.
Certificates of analysis
Each lot of Mixing Water 5 Pack (5ml) is released with a certificate recording identity and purity. Enter the lot number printed on your vial on the lab testing page to view it.
Questions
What is the difference between sterile water and bacteriostatic water?
Sterile water contains no preservative. Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which limits bacterial growth in a vial that is opened more than once. Preservative-free water is usually chosen for cell-based assays, where benzyl alcohol could interfere.
How should opened vials be handled?
Use each opened vial once where possible, because the water has no preservative. Use sterile technique, keep solutions made with it cold, and use them promptly.
Is sterile water a medicine?
No. It is a laboratory diluent supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory use. It is not a medicine, food or supplement, and it is not for human or animal use. Buyers must be aged 18 or over.
